Privacy Policy

Inkstone is built so that your reading stays yours. This page describes what the app and this website handle, and what they do not.
The app
- An account, only if you want one. You can read without signing in. If you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we keep your email address and a copy of your progress so it can follow you to another phone. That copy holds stories read, saved words, review history, seals and settings. It is stored with Supabase, and sign-in codes are sent by Resend. Delete the account in Settings or at getinkstone.app/delete-account, and both are gone.
- Your reading stays on your phone. Reading progress, saved words, review history, seals, and settings live in a local database on your phone. Unless you sign in we cannot see them, and deleting the app deletes them.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google, through the App Store or Google Play account you subscribe with. To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an identifier and the purchase receipt. If you have not signed in, the identifier is randomly generated and is not your name, your email, your Apple ID or your Google account. If you sign in, RevenueCat receives your account's identifier and email address instead, so your subscription, and anything we give you, follows your account to any phone.
- Usage analytics. The app sends usage events to PostHog, such as which screens open and when a story is finished, so we can see what works. If you have not signed in, they are tied to a random identifier made on your phone and never to your name or email. If you sign in, they are tied to your account and its email address, so we can find your account when you write to us or when we give you something. Delete your account and your email is removed from RevenueCat and PostHog too.
- No ads in the app. Inkstone shows no advertising.
- Measuring our own ads. Inkstone advertises on Instagram and Facebook. To learn which of those ads bring readers, the app includes Meta's SDK, which tells Meta when the app is installed and opened and when a free trial or a subscription starts. After your first story the app asks whether Meta may use your device's advertising identifier for this. If you say no, Meta only counts installs and trials without it. What you read, the words you save and anything in your account are never shared with Meta. You can change your answer at any time: on iPhone in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking, and on Android in Inkstone's own Settings.
- No microphone. The app plays its bundled audio and never records anything.
This website
- Waitlist. If you joined the waitlist, we keep the email address you gave us and use it only to tell you about Inkstone's launch and releases. We never sell it or share it. Write to us and we will remove it.
- Analytics. The site counts visits and signups with privacy-respecting analytics (Vercel Web Analytics and PostHog). These events are anonymous and carry no advertising identifiers.
Children
Inkstone is not made for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
